Special appeal for Twiddlemuffs

Thank you to everyone who sent Twiddlemuffs last month. Please do keep them coming! We have been contacted by other Ambulance Services asking for Twiddlemuffs to be given to dementia and anxious and confused patients.

Thank you!

As well as the Twiddlemuffs sent to the Ambulance Services and hospitals, lots of knitted items went to homeless shelters, community centres and women’s refuges. Here are some heartwarming thanks from the recipients:
Thank you so much for the wonderful Twiddlemitts created by your lovely volunteers. I know that our clients will really love them. – Care home in Edinburgh
Thank you so much for your kind donations, we have now been able to top up our baby cardigans and jumpers plus have a new range of baby clothes for our premature babies. Twice this month we have had families fleeing domestic abuse, needing clothes desperately often only having the clothes they have on their back. So thank you for allowing us to stock up on these essentials. – Community centre in Knowsley
Just to say thank you so much for the two sacks of knitted blankets and twiddlemuffs you sent – they are absolutely beautiful and the team is really excited to have these to give out to patients. Please pass on our and the patients’ thanks to your fantastic generous knitters and crocheters. – NHS Foundation in South London

We have a marvellous selection of Merino wool this month!

It’s all 100% wool, except where otherwise indicated and it’s all beautiful and soft. There’s enough Rico superwash aran to make a large adult item, and we’ve thrown in a small selection of patterns to inspire you. The Sublime Extra Fine merino would make a great child’s jumper, and you could add stripes or pattern with the Drops jewel colours.

‘Help abused women’ campaign continues

Women forced to flee war and civil unrest. They are stuck in makeshift camps, without hope or dignity, often haunted by recurring nightmares.Trafficked women and those who have been raped, who find asylum, but are far from home.Victims of domestic violence, who have had to leave it all behind, and seek shelter in women’s refuges.Knitting helps their recovery, because it is calming, it makes them feel useful, as they knit for themselves, their children and others. Some even set up small businesses, selling their knitting.
