New Lanark, 2021

PLEASE NOTE: This holiday is currently fully booked. If you would like to be added to the waiting list please email, or have a look at our two other holidays: Gladstone’s Library and Lady Margaret Hall.

We have chosen New Lanark, one of five UNESCO World heritage sites in Scotland, because it combines the comfort of a hotel with the chance to see the model weaving and spinning mill. It’s in a beautiful riverside setting.

This holiday is more like a knitting retreat than a formal training session. We will sit and knit together and there will be kitting surgeries, where you can ask for help and advice. There will be introductions to different techniques that people might like to try.

Dates: 12th-15th October 2020

How to get there: New Lanark is accessible by car or public transport.

Food: Price includes bed and half board (a substantial breakfast & evening meal). Please let us know of any special dietary needs. There are lots of places to eat at New Lanark, in the Hotel – the restaurant, bar and lounge – or at the Heritage centre at the Mill café, where light lunches and home made cakes are served. A formal afternoon tea is served in the Hotel Restaurant.

Shopping: There are onsite shops selling yarn spun at New Lanark and other items made at the Mill and a Heritage Centre gift shop.

Walks: There are extensive grounds and visitors can take riverside walks. If the weather is fine, we can sit and knit on the rooftop garden.

The spa: Participants have free access to the swimming pool and spa. There are also a range of treatments that can be booked (not included in the price).

The cost:

Double occupancy: £585 per person (3 nights)

Single occupancy: + £20 per night = £645 (3 nights)

Both these prices include a £100 donation to Knit for Peace’s work with abused women.

Deposit: We are asking for a £100 deposit to secure your place on the holiday. There are limited spaces available, so we will operate on a first come, first served basis. This deposit can be paid by filling in your card details on the booking form or sending the completed booking form along with a cheque to Knit for Peace, Radius Works, Back Lane, London, NW3 1HL.

We will be collecting the rest of the payment for the holiday closer to the time.

Cancellation: If the holiday cannot go ahead due to the pandemic, Knit for Peace will refund the deposit and any further payments made to Knit for Peace towards the cost of the holiday.
