A picture of the front of the New Lanark Mill Hotel, where we will be staying on this knitting holiday.

We have chosen New Lanark, one of five UNESCO World heritage sites in Scotland, because it combines the comfort of a hotel with the chance to see the model weaving and spinning mill. It’s also in a beautiful riverside setting in Scotland.

This holiday is more like a knitting retreat than a formal training session, as there is no tutor. We will sit and knit together and there will be kitting surgeries, where you can ask for help and advice. There will be introductions to different techniques that people might like to try.

Dates: 12th – 15th October, 2021

How to get there

New Lanark is accessible by car or public transport. The nearest train station is Lanark, from there it is a short taxi ride to the hotel.

Shopping & Walks

There are onsite shops selling yarn spun at New Lanark and other items made at the Mill and a Heritage Centre gift shop. There are also extensive grounds, so visitors can take riverside walks. If the weather is fine, we can sit and knit on the rooftop garden.

The Spa

Participants have free access to the swimming pool and spa. You can also book a range of treatments at the spa (not included in the price).

Price

The price includes bed and half board (a substantial breakfast & evening meal). Please let us know of any special dietary needs. There are lots of places to eat at New Lanark, in the Hotel – the restaurant, bar and lounge – or at the Heritage centre at the Mill café, where light lunches and home made cakes are served. The Hotel Restaurant also serves a formal afternoon tea.

Double occupancy: £585 per person (3 nights)

Single occupancy: + £20 per night = £645 (3 nights)

Both these prices include a £100 donation to Knit for Peace’s work with abused women.
