This month we are sending large quantities of knitted items to care homes all over the UK, refugee drop-in centres, and hospitals and community centres in poor areas. Please keep the lap blankets, bed shawls, bed socks, mitts & gloves coming.

Nice feedback from recipients

“We received the gorgeous hats and scarves on Thursday and I just want to thank you so much for them all.  The kids were Absolutely delighted and felt really cosy and warm wearing them.”A nursery near Glasgow

“Thank you very much for your kind donation of hats, scarfs, gloves and blankets for our patients at specialist dementia assessment unit. They will make a big difference to patients in this cold weather and allow more people to get off the ward for time outside in the fresh air.”Care home in South London

Knit a Community: Israel progress report

In March we are visiting Knit a Community in Israel. Tremendous progress in just a year. 200 groups -Jews, Christians, Druze, Bedouins, Arabs, young, old, able bodied, deaf, wheel-chair bound. Good will throughout. A great example of peace building from bottom up. There is even a knitting group in the women’s prison.

Whilst in Israel we’ll be planning how to set up parallel organisations in Jordan and the Palestine Authority. If you would like to support this project donate here.
Truly knitting needles and crochet hooks become the weapons of peace.

Back from a wonderful holiday in Mysore

Here is what people said:“I really enjoyed Mysore again. Jane and Juliet were fabulous teachers”

“My first time to India and what a wonderful introduction to such a colourful country. Mysore is a very interesting city and the Green Hotel is a very comfortable place to stay. Staff are brilliant: friendly, cheerful and provide delicious meals!”

“Thank you for the wonderful experience — it was delightful, challenging, thought provoking and fun.”

Future Knit for Peace Holidays

Jaipur, Rajasthan textile and handicrafts holiday,
February 2021
This will be a slightly different holiday. It will suit knitters and crocheters of all standards. Rather than a formal course, knitters will be encouraged to try different techniques, with knitting doctors on hand to help.
There will be visits to craft workshops, palaces, museums (not generally open to the public). Rajasthan is so rich in wonderful buildings and nature reserves, this holiday provides a perfect opportunity to combine good company, build friendships, enjoy wonderful colours and crafts of India.
