Special Appeal:

Help for abused women

  • Women forced to flee war and civil unrest. They are stuck in makeshift camps, without hope or dignity, often haunted by recurring nightmares.
  • Trafficked women and those who have been raped, who find asylum, but are far from home.
  • Victims of domestic violence, who have had to leave it all behind, and seek shelter in women’s refuges.

Help us raise £25,000 so we can supply yarn, needles, and haberdashery to these women so they can knit. This appeal is specifically so we can continue to help those in the most wretched circumstances.

The sufferings of these women cannot be overestimated. Alone, poor, ashamed. Often blaming themselves.

Knitting helps their recovery, because it is calming, it makes them feel useful, as they knit for themselves, their children and others. Some even set up small businesses, selling their knitting.

Please support our work so we can continue to help these abused women

A Big Thank You
Thank you so much for your support and all the beautiful and warm knitting you have sent us!

So far this month we have sent ten of thousands of much needed items to Syria for those living amongst the rubble; to Greece to people rescued from the Mediterranean sea, and here in the UK to women’s refuges, homeless charities in Coventry and Birmingham, hospitals, and community groups all over the UK.

Sorry if acknowledgements are delayed. We are getting so much knitting, and our team of volunteers are working so hard to keep up. Perhaps, after Christmas, Santa will send us some elves.

A nice message

“Thanks so much for our delivery!
We can’t wait to give out our hats and scarves to members this winter.”

Homeless Shelter in Birmingham

Sewing bees needed
A school in Ringwood has taken an Inter-house knitting competition at the beginning of the year. The whole school – students, staff, family and friends have all got involved and the squares are coming in thick and fast! They reckon to have more than 200 squares by Christmas. They are hoping to find some help to sew them up together to make dressing gowns to donate to Knit for Peace. So if you are in the area of New Forest and would be interesting in helping please email Joyce.
