September Newsletter 2021
Help Afghan refugees
We are providing knitting kits for Afghan refugees arriving in the UK. We know from past experience of Syrian and Kurdish refugees how much women were comforted by being able to knit or crochet for themselves and others.
If you want to donate clothes or blankets to refugees, gov.uk has a link through which you can find out what sort of help is needed in your local area: https://www.gov.uk/help-refugees Not all local authorities are asking for clothing, but it is worth checking if yours is.
There are lots of other ways you can support refugees through our sister charity, Good Gifts:
- Help doctors, dentists and others retrain so their skills can be put to good use in their new homes – £28
- Practical help for refugees – £50
